Prayer Reflection – May 31, 2024

Luke 18:13-14 (NIV)

13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’

14 “I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Romans 5:1-2 (NIV)

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

I encourage you to read through the parable that Jesus shares in Luke 18:9-14.

Perhaps even take time to read all of Luke 18.

What do you notice?

The posture of humility stands out to me.

We come to God as we are.  All of our confidence and hope is in Him.

God has clearly demonstrated His love through His Son Jesus (see Romans 5:1-11).

As you pray today, here is a song to reflect on from the album Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs by Shane & Shane:

The Lord bless you!

Psalm 42
