If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat

Pastor Rob Mudde recommended this book to me at the beginning of the school year and it quickly became impactful for me.

We drew on it for teaching themes this past year for Thursday Youth (Jr. High). Specifically, I love how it explores Scripture and Jesus walking on water (Matthew 14:22-36). The author does a great job of asking important questions about faith in Jesus and trusting Him. He writes, “I believe the reason God says “fear not” so often is that fear will sink us faster than anything else.  Fear disrupts faith and becomes the biggest obstacle to trusting and obeying God.” (Ortberg - pg. 120)
