Prayer Reflection – November 24, 2023

1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

1 Peter 5:7 (The Message)

Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

My prayer is that we read this verse today and respond in our hearts, “Yes, that is true and I will do that.”

To be sure, this is true (see also Philippians 4:4-8).

God cares about us.  He loves us.

What does it look like today to give all of our worries and cares to Him?

For as often as He has shown His faithfulness, why do we tend to hold on to our worries and cares?

Entrusting ourselves to God’s care is an act of worship as we respond to His character.  We trust who He is.  We seek Him.  We rest in Him (see Matthew 11:28-30 and Luke 10:38-42).

I invite you to talk with Jesus about this today and see where He leads you in His word.  Perhaps someone you know is feeling overwhelmed (see Psalm 6).  Let’s pray as Jesus leads us.

Here are songs that I wanted to share with you today as you pause with Jesus.  I think that the first song by Andrew Peterson is psalm-like in its lyrics of lament and hope.  The second song is one that I grew up hearing my mom sing in our home and also heard it as it played on our stereo (record player).  Perhaps for you, it is not a familiar style of music, but I encourage you to reflect on the lyrics.  I invite you to listen to what Gloria Gaither shares as we enter into the season of Advent and anticipate Christmas:

The Lord bless you!
